The Artwork
Whew! The sigh of relief from a swimmer who has just had some very good luck. He has just been saved from the jaws of a shark. His big red lips are pursed, his eyebrow is raised as he wonders how he got so lucky. The swimmer, in the deep blue sea, has their hand on their head, just touching their green swimming cap.
Two large beads of sweat trickle down their face. The barrel of a rifle can be seen in the foreground shooting out an orange flame at an out of shot shark, the blood of this unseen shark has started to darken the nearby water.
The shark we do see rears its head up in shock and panic, its scarily sharp teeth surrounding the deep red void that is its mouth. Two more sharks appear in the distance, their fins above the water. They would be well advised to keep away.
This original acrylic painting with its cartoonish caricature and bright colours captures the lucky situation with humour.
