Red Belgian Hare Rabbit

This print is taken from an original acrylic painting of a red Belgian Hare Rabbit. Painted against a green background which shows off the beautiful chestnut colour of its fur. The alert rabbit looks around, its dark eyes flashing and its fur gleaming.

The Belgian Hare is actually not a hare but a breed of rabbit. In the 18th century, Belgian breeders crossed the domestic rabbit with wild rabbits and selectively bred them to create a rabbit that looked like a hare. They are the only breed of rabbit to have that deep red colour fur.
