The Artwork

This colourful painting captures a man in a private, solitary moment as he lights up a cigar held in his mouth. His bunched up hands are hiding the lighter and protecting the flame from any wind. The upper half of his face is covered by a wide brimmed hat.

The man is sitting outside on a bright day. He is in front of very loosely rendered greenery. A plastic white chair frames his lower half, the table in front of him bears a bright yellow table cloth and a couple of other objects.

Dark outlines, bright colours and loose textures combine to form a striking work of art.
