The petals of the forget-me-not look a bit like a mouse's ear and this is where the flower gets its scientific name, Myosotis, from - an ancient Greek word for 'mouse ear'.

These dainty and very pretty flowers, which are usually less than 1cm in diameter, come in a few colours of which blue is the most common.

This pattern of forget-me-nots is from an acrylic painting on canvas. The blue flowers with their yellow and black are said to symbolise true love and respect.
