Arms Wide is one of a series of 3 watercolour paintings showing stylised figures in the middle of a physical routine. The others are Arms Akimbo and Arms High.
In this watercolour painting three rows of stylised figures are shown with their arms held apart. They are painted with lovely watercolour textures in shades of green, blue and yellow. The figure in the front row, being closest to the viewer, is larger than those further back. The figures become smaller and more shadowed as they move away from the viewer. Each row of figures is on a different level, the levels descend as they approach the front.
The human figures are depicted in a simplified and stylised form without any facial features and very little clothing detail. Their arms are held to the side, at shoulder height, perhaps caught in the middle of a move.
They should give the viewer the impression of people taking part in a group exercise routine for fitness, team spirit or the type of synchronised entertainment you see at sporting events.
This design is also available, with distressed edges, for t-shirts.
